The camp has three pools for instruction: an oval pool with
a graduated depth, a pool three feet in depth, and one with a depth of 30 inches. All
pools are meticulously maintained and comply with the regulations of the State Department of
Health.
The swimming program is directed by Red Cross Water Safety instructors who will be implementing the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. Each camper will receive a swimming progress report during each session. Red Cross certificates will be awarded to those who complete the requirements. Instruction is organized with an approximately 1:4 teacher-student class ratio. Each camper will be evaluated on the first day of each session to ensure proper class placement. Waterfront rules are strictly enforced to ensure the safety of all campers. Each camper swims twice a day. The morning instructional swim is compulsory for kindergarteners-Grade 6 unless illness or other circumstances preventing participation are presented in writing by the parent. The afternoon "free swim" is carefully supervised; campers may practice their skills or enjoy the water with their friends. Campers may not "free swim" unless they have attended their morning lesson. |
