Musical Theatre Program

Campers Create and Produce an Original Musical
In only six weeks, third to sixth graders can explore the entire process of theatrical production, as they write and perform their own play. Musical Theatre counseling groups dedicate three hours per day to drama experiences. Other camp activities, including swimming, are integrated into the daily schedule to provide a uniquely balanced summer theatre program. Children at each level of development will expand their dramatic skills, while participating as an equal member of the company. Basic techniques are taught by a professional staff of threater artists and educators.
In Session I, students and staff will take on the challenge of developing scenes; creating movement and dances; writing song lyrics; and designing scenery, props, and costumes. During Session II, each child will experience the pride of building and painting sets, creating costume and props, and presenting an original musical to the entire camp community. A special evening performance will be held for families during the sixth week.
